The Wind Beneath My Wings

It must have been cold there in our shadows
to never have sunlight on your face.
You've always been content to let us shine.
You've always walked one step behind.

We were the ones with all the glory,
while you were the one with all the strength,
only a face without a name,
and we never once heard you complain.

Did you ever know that you're our hero
and everything that we'd like to be.
We can fly higher than the eagles,
'cause you are the Wind beneath our Wings.

You might have thought it went unnoticed
but we've got it all here in our hearts.
We want you to know we know the truth
That we would be nothing without you.

Did you ever know that you're our hero
and everything that we'd like to be.
We can fly higher than the eagles,
'cause you are the Wind beneath our Wings.

IN LOVING MEMORY

My Dad

I met him several years ago
The first face I ever knew
A bond was formed right there and then
Our love was new and true.

He taught me how to ride my bike
He taught me how to play
But best of all he taught me how
To love him every day.

His face was warm and gentle
His eyes deep and true
His heart was full of kindness
The kindest man I ever knew.

He had his little sayings
That would make you laugh and smile
He picked you up when you were down
And made troubles fade a while.

He helped me when I needed him
When the whole world turned away
He gave me strength to face the world
And fight another day.

I love him now as ever
A love deep and true
He always made me feel special
He made every day feel new.

The time without him has been hard to face
I miss him every day
I need him now it hurts so much
For his daily guidance I pray.

He was strong and brave
He was wise and calm
No better man could fall
He showed us how to keep our faith
An inspiration to us all.

If you met him you loved him
If you knew him you were blessed
If he loved you, you were honored
Cause you were loved by the very best
